Brooklyn is One week older today!

What and incredible week we had. We're adjusting well and the whole family is doing well. Brooklyn had to go to the Dr. again yesterday to make sure all is well, which it was and I am happy to report she is back up to her Birthweight! She'll have another appt next tuesday to make sure she's still gaining weight and that I am feeding her well enough. I am very blessed to still have my mom here for another week. Hojo comes this sunday also. It's been awesome having her here. She likes to get up with Brooklyn after her 4 or 5 am feed and take care of her so I can cont to sleep. And better yet Brett and I have never eaten so well in my life! How is this house going to function after she goes back to Chicago? :-) Brett went back to work today and that was a bummer since i have loved having him home with us this week. Tonight after dinner our friends Casey and Tod came by to visit with us and to see Brooklyn. They are expecting their first ANY day now...and I am very excited to finally meet their new addition, Baby Boy Brooks, aka future BoyFriend of Brooklyn! So that was our day in a nutshell. I'm going to get ready to hit the hay and say my prayers for another night of restful sleep! (i've been lucky the past few nights to only have to wake just once to feed Brooklyn!) I'll let you know how that goes!

First Family Picture

Just wanted to share our latest from this evening..... She was so wide awake between her feeds we just had so much fun interacting with her.....

Cat Naps and Still Functioning

When people tell you to enjoy yor sleep before you have a baby and to get plenty of rest, they aren't kidding!!!!!! I have yet to sleep more then 2.5 hours at a time since baby. Not's worth it. And I am still manage to stand up straight and function! All Miss Brooklyn does is eat and sleep with the occasional fussy spells which I'm so thankful the fussiness has gotten better since my "milk" has finally come in and she is eating better. I don't feel like I'm starving my child anymore either so my own fussy crying spells have gotten better, which I am sure Brett is pleased with that! Overall I'm glad to report we are both doing well. I'm feeling better each day....and Miss Brooklyn is getting cuter and more adorable each day! Of course she's making it thru all her cute outfits. I'm afraid she's going to grow so fast and never where most of the clothes so I make sure to change her with every oppurtunity and excuse I have. She's still so tiny that actually most newborn clothes she has are still a lil big. She had her first Dr. Appt Yesterday. She's still down from her orginal birth weight to 6 # 4 oz, but up an oz since she was d/c'd from the hospital. She's such a petite tiny lil thing it's so cute! Who would have thought you'd hear that from a NICU nurse who sees 2 lb baby's all the time! As you can see in the pictures she still a lil yellow and the Dr has been keeping closer tabs on her then normal to make sure everything is
okay. So far so good! Enjoy the pictures.....Brooklyn's callin!

Brooklyn Joy Stephenson!

Welcome Brooklyn!!!! We did it! It was a surreal experience...and still is. The whole family made it home yesterday from the hospital. Brooklyn had a wonderful birthday. I was induced like planned and the epidural didn't fully work, it did it's job to take most of the pain away, but I still felt enough. OH well. It was all worth it!!! Brooklyn was born at 619pm...she came quicker then anticipated. We had thought it would be a long night, but before you know it the nurse had me pushing. I could not have not it without Brett, he was the most wonderful support I could have ever imagined...especially since the epidural didn't fully work :-). Brooklyn and I got to bond right away before they took her away to get weighed and measured. She weighed in at 6# 9oz and measured at 20.5 inches. She looks bigger then I would think. Now our life has been completely changed and I barely have time to blog anymore! I know people have been asking to see pics to here they are!!!

Once life has settled here at the Stephenson household I'll be sure to update more....for now...I gotta run and feed my baby!!!

Tomorrow's the Big Day!

Tomorrow at 7am we're going to the hospital to be induced! My pout face with the Dr. convinced him it was time...that and my rising blood pressure was of concern. Last night was a rough night after the Dr. appt. He had done a few inducing techniques to see if I would go into labor even sooner then Friday and I was up at 1 am with contractions that had quite the bite to them. Brett took the day off thinking that it might just happen today since I had such a miserable morning. By mid day the contractions had settled. I thought for sure we'd be making the trip to the hospital earlier. Oh well. But I am will confess that the bit of contractions that I had this morning really confirms I'm getting that epidural ASAP. I hope it works and I'm not that slim population that it just doesn't work with. I was having a tough time just breathing thru the contractions that I did have I can't imagine pushing a baby out. I'm a secret there! Anyway, so my Mom caught a flight earlier this morning and we spent the day with her. I took a nap once the pain finally went away and then the 3 of us headed to the Mall to walk a bit. I wanted to walk outside but AZ's getting some funky weather and it was pouring rain out so we had to walk indoors. Monday it was record high 110 and then today it was record low 53! Can you believe that? I love and welcome the overcast skies and rain. Reminds me of Chicago! And it's supposed to continue thru tomorrow....sounds like the perfct day to have a baby!!! Alright, wish us luck! Can't wait to get back home and share pictures and stories of Our Baby's Birthday!

38.5 weeks according to my Doctor. 39 weeks according to me. Still nothing!! I contract all the time. Last night I was having them pretty regularly every 10 minutes for about 4 hours. I finally got myself to sleep and woke up and they subsided. Sucks. I thought we'd get somewhere by this morning for sure. I spent the afternoon walking and pacing the mall. I parked far from the door on the opposite side of the mall from the store I needed to go to. I walked the mall for a few hours. Side Note: There are some great sales out there right now with the if-y economy and the tax rebates that everyone is getting. Tonight Brett and I waited for the sun to go down and walked the neighborhood. If you're in AZ you're quite aware of the record heat we've got the last 3 days. 110 yesterday! I couldn't believe it. I didn't move far from the house yesterday.....went up and down the stairs to keep some sort of movement going. I know eventually Baby will come out, but I'm getting pretty discouraged about actually having this baby before my due date. That's still another week and a half!!! OH well, baby Stephenson's just proving that she's about run this household and call the shots...oh lord. I have another Dr. Appt tomorrow. Brett has the day off and he'll be joining me. Hopefully to help convince my Doc that it's time to talk induction!!! Maybe?! I hope to have better things to share over the next few days.
Here are the latest pictures taken this afternoon.
Deuce wondering if his Baby Sister is Stuck in Mommy's Belly.

Some Cuddle time with Mommy.

What's that Daddy? Can I have some?!

Stephenson's had made the Cover!

Blogging has gotten out of control. We can Thank Casey for introducing me to this website. I had a lil too much time on my hand and getting sick of timing contractions so I used this as my distraction. I am sure that Mitch and Co. will have fun with this one...esp the last picture. I also know that I might not hear the end of it from my hubbie...but that's what you get for leaving me while you tend to "GTA4"

Your Room is Ready Baby Girl!

Here's the completed nursery. Only missing item is Baby and Brett and I are more then anxious to have her come home too see her new room. It's WAY bigger then the housing set up she has going now! My wonderful mom made the window valance to match the room and she wanted to see a picture of it. She couldn't wait to see the room in person. I'm hoping and praying it will only be a few more days though before I can call her and tell her to hop on a plane her Granddaughter is coming! PLEASE let it be a few more days. I'm taking alot more walks and had this sudden burst of energy since the Dr. told us I was actually dilated. And vaccuming the house way more then needed. The walks have been refreshing and comforting. I feel soo much better the more physically active I am. I really don't feel miserable and actually the times that I do feel the worst is when I get up from sitting for a while and muscles are all tightened up and that when I'm the most crampy. I usually have to waddle for a while til my body readjusts. Last night at work I walked around a whole lot more and didn't feel miserable. I hate admitting this cuz I don't want to give baby any ideas on hanging out in mommy's belly any longer. We'll see if I still feel that way after working Fri, Sat & Sun. I'm sure my swollen ankles and feet will beg to differ. So who knows....maybe I'm just destined to go the full 40 weeks for this baby. Brett says that if Baby is anything like mommy she won't patient and wait the 40 wks to show her face. I say if baby is like Daddy she'll be waiting til 42 weeks. took him 6 years of dating me to finally propose? Now I have this blog to seek revenge (right Mitch?)

So much to share!

First off I forgot to mention and thank the girls at work for throwing me a baby shower last Thursday. It was sooo sweet and thoughtful I really felt special. The girls had made a diaper cake and stuffed it with all sorts of baby goodies and gifts. We also got more cute clothes, books and diaper wipes galore! They had set it up potluck style and there was soo much yummy food, not to mention yummy cake! Thank you to the NICU gals!!! I have pictures, but they are hard copy and our scanner is out of service at the moment, but will make sure to share them as soon as it is back up and running.

Brett and I celebrated our first anniversary last night. We went to T. Cooks at the Royal Palms in Scottsdale. I didn't really want to include the picture below because I look awful and swollen in the picture, but then I thought hey I'm 9 mos pregnant, I have an excuse!!!! What do people expect?! It's natural and it's no secret that I've gained weight :-) I was a cheap date since I couldn't drink the bottle of wine that I would have liked too :-) It still was a perfect evening. We sat outside on the patio and had a wonderful dinner....dessert however was better :-)
On the way up to dinner Brett and I exchanged our presents. I actually gave part of it the night before. I framed a world map to hang up in the office.
Brett and I love to travel as much as we can and now we can pin point all our travel adventures on this map. Which Brett had fun doing last night. The other gift that I got him was a new watch. He'd been talking about needing one and wanting one. It's a watch from Burberry, didn't realize that they even made watches, but hey it looked nice and sharp and he seemed to like it :-).

For my big present...combined mother's day, baby, and annivesary I got an anniversary band. It's matches my wedding band he gave me and is meant to wear with the set. It's the most perfect gift and I love it. I was so shocked when I opened the box to find another ring! It was like being proposed to all over again! Well minus the whole will you marry me and down on one knee part. The ring completes and balances my engagement ring and wedding band. Only thing is that my hands swell too much thru the day that by the end I can't take off my rings so I've quit wearing them until after the baby is born.

The other thing that I wanted to share was that I had my "37" week (I'm actually 38 wks tomorrow) dr appt today. He checked me to see if I'm progressing at all with labor and I am 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced. For all those non-medical people reading this....that means I'm at least 1/5 thru with the whole labor process and more importantly I can go into true labor and have this baby any day now! My guess is that I'll have the baby Saturday...I work Weds and Fri thru Sun night so that ought to send me to labor one of those days. Though I can also still go to my due date if the baby doesn't want to come out! I've been having contractions all the time, all bearable and not painful, so nothing that I feel I need to go to the hospital for. Soon though. I'm comforted knowing that I'm at least doing something and progressing. Hooray! I can't wait to meet this baby girl of ours!!!! Brett asks on the daily basis, sometimes a few times during the day, if I think we're going to have this baby today. He's obviously as excited as I. One day soon I hope to shock him and tell him yes and to meet me at the hospital. For now my response is still "I doubt it." Our bags are packed and we're ready though!!! The baby's room is ready. We just have to figure out how to use the car seat and set it up in the car....minor detail! Soon, we're going to have our baby pictures on this blog! For know you'll have to see fat prego pictures of me :-)

Alright I have to go nest and mop the floors. It's funny how panic struck when the Dr. told me that I was actually dilated and effaced. All sorts of things starting popping in my head that needed to get done before this baby came....all cleaning though. Lucky Brett!

Happy 1 Year to Us!

How Time flies! This is where we were a year ago....exchanging vows and celebrating! It was definately hot and I am sorry to the guys who had to wear tuxes....but you all looked so good! I still can't believe that was a year ago! What a year Brett and I have had. I'll spare you all the details because i can go on and on since it's been the best year thus far. I wouldn't trade in a single day for the world. Brett and I have been so blessed this year and I know that our many years to follow will only get better. I'm the luckiest wifey out there!

Since I'm supposibly about ready to "pop" Brett and I couldn't go too far and get too extravegent with the anniversary celebration. We'll have many other years for that! Brett actually has to go into work for a lil and then we have plans to do dinner. I'm excited to spend more time with him on the solo being those days are really getting numbered! We've had such a busy crazy year since the wedding that a relaxing evening will be nice. Our wedding came and went and I know a lot of couples that always have something to say about what they would do over if they had to do it again....for instance, not do it so "big" and save on the money. I can honestly say that I wouldn't change a thing. Even the hot weather :-) The wedding had it's glitches I'm sure, but its been forgotten and all that matters is that it was perfect in our eyes. Happy Anniversary to my one and only! I love you long time!!!!!
