Blog worth checking....

I was blog surfing and ran across this blog by a 12 year old. Thanks Bree! Check it out....

(I don't know how to add a link on this post so you can simply click on it, help anyone? So til I get that help you'll have to copy and paste to your web address bar)

She's so awesome and creative all at the young age of 12....I think I just mastered the french braid by that time and was working on how high I can tease my bangs when I was 12...oh and I was also trying to grow out my perm :-).

I can't wait til Brooklyn finally has hair for me to play with....but my luck she'll hate it and she'll be the child running around and other mom's will look at her and think "God, doesn't her mom comb her hair?!"

Another blog to check out...

Kudos to the creative bugs in your genes! Where are my creative bugs?!

Reality update...

THANK GOD Stephan didn't win Top Chef, I seriously would have vomited.
I love love love Allison on American Idol...I get choked up when she sings (yes I am that pathetic and sappy).
And how can you not stereotype Natalie on the Bachelor?! Really, she has no clue how ridiculous she makes her orange self out to be. I'm ashamed to say she's a fellow chicagoan! Can't wait for the finale on Monday!

Day of Luxury

Alright this is the 3rd time I have tried to post this blog and a mommy of a 9 month old with limited computer and nap time I'm quite annoyed. So here's the shorten version....

We celebrated Vicki's Bridal shower at the Spa Lamar in Scottsdale yesterday. Mimosas and Massages? Who can complain?! Terrific lunch even better company. I had an awesome time with the girls! We need to do this more often.

Thanks for a wonderful time ladies!!! Can't wait to celebrate at the wedding next month!

Brooklyn had her 9 month doctor visit this morning. 18.5 lbs, that's only 1 lb weight gain in the last 3 months, but since she's been climbing and crawling over nearly everything we're not worried. She's still incredibly healthy and is doing everything she needs to be doing. She jumped from the 25th percentile in height to the 50th percentile. So she's stretching out and thinning out all while keeping up those cheeks!

Today is Brooklyn's 9 month birthday and we're going to celebrate after lunch and head to a park! Yay! We're also going to sign Brooklyn up for swim lessons. Since she's an AZ baby my thought is that she'll grow up poolside so I want to introduce her to the water asap. Although there is no plan for a pool in our backyard for now. That will take away the worry of any accidents at our house and the stress of maintenence ( I have a hard enough time keeping up with the inside of the house) Everyone else around us seems to have a pool. If we really really wanted to hang out by the pool we could always go to one of our condos to use the pool there. We've planned a trip with the family to go to Clearwater in June and we're going to be staying beachside so I don't want Brooklyn to be afraid of the water and instead enjoy the time at the beach!

The other day Brett and I caught Brooklyn trying to eat and chew the mail.

When we asked her about it, she tried to deny the allegations.

Umm, Brooklyn darling the evidence is all over your face sweets!

I don't know what you are talking about mommy!!!!

Tonight we are going to dinner with brett's Aunt Linda and Uncle Jan who are in town visiting. We hadn't seen them since our trip to Dakota this past summer. We are looking foward to dinner!

New Discoveries

Brooklyn here.....

Did you know that my Mommy keeps a cabinet full of plastic thingys in the kitchen?! I found them the other day and ohhh my goodness it soo much fun! I climb into the cabinet (when Mommy is not looking of course) and sort thru the haven full of grand new toys. I often see my Mommy putting food in them, but what fun is that?! It's way more fun to toss them around and chew on them. I throw them around all over the kitchen floor and giggle at my Mommy when she steps on them and makes a yelping sound.

Did you also know that my puppy, Deuce-er, is the best cuddler ever? My Mommy and Daddy tell me that he normally only cuddles with me after I have fallen asleep because I like to pull at his tags, ears, tail and hair all the time so he won't cuddle anymore, but the other day I found out that if I just lay with him and not bug him all the time he'll lay right with me! He's my best friend!

I also found out that I love to ride on my Mommy's shoulders, but my Mommy says she doesn't like doing that too much because she's afraid I'll fall so I only get to do it every so often when Daddy is around to supervise :-)

Reality junkie!

I am attempting to blog while in bed from my phone. Just checking to see if this works. If it does I might learn to love my blackberry after all! Alright I would love to know everyones thoughts on 1) bachelor... Molly?! Really over Jillian? 2) american idol... LOVE David Gokey though wasn't a fan of this weeks song choice and would have prefered Anoop over Michael. 3) top chef... Stefan!?! He makes me want to vomit!

Happy Valentines!!!!

Hugs and Kisses to everyone! We hope it was a good holiday for everyone full of love! Brett and I enjoyed a quick valentines dinner before I had to go to work and then Brooklyn and Brett had Daddy Daughter date night.... Brett surprised us both with roses last night. Red ones for me and Pink ones for Brooklyn. He also insisted that I share my box of chocolates with Brooklyn....hmmmmm. Not happening!

Brooklyn Update

This afternoon I came to a realization that my beautiful lil daughter is no longer a baby anymore! She's getting so big and is a lil girl now. She's not the lil baby that I can cuddle with and she'd stays put. She's out exploring her surroundings and is on the go! I realized how big and grown she was getting when she was sitting up in my lap as we were reading a book this afternoon. She sat and read with me, interested and then the minute I closed the book she was on the go! She's not the chunky monkey like she was a few months ago. She's losing her folds and rolls, but thankfully has managed to keep her cheeks! She's stretching out her weight for sure! Still fits her clothes that are 6 months to 9 months and is in size 3 diapers with room to go. She's outgrowing her size 2 shoes which pleases Mommy so I have an excuse to get her new shoes!!!! The other day I was faced with my first challenge (and fear) of using a public restroom with her. I of course just had to pee and couldn't hold it while in the grocery store. So I picked her up, brought her in the stall with me and held her upright and standing in an effort for her to not touch the growdies and coodies of a public restroom all while balancing myself...I'll spare you anymore of the details, but thankfully she can stand with assistance and thankfully she had shoes on. I've gone place before where shoes weren't a priority while walking out the door, but trust me now they are!!! Her hair is getting longer and finally hanging over her ears. So as you can see in the pictures she's been wearing more headwraps. She's losing interest in the TV and would rather sit in the bathroom with me and watch me get ready. Brooklyn pulls herself up on my legs and will walk with me or stand with me while I'm in the kitchen cooking or cleaning up. She's working on walking with her walker but hasn't got that down yet, which we are okay with, but my bet is that she'll be walking by she's one..sorry its not sooner Vicki! If the dog is curled up on my lap she'll crawl right over him to be held, they both love fighting for love and affection. She'd much rather feed herself then be fed by us so I've had the challenge of finding finger food appropriate for her while still introducing new tastes and food...and I've been challenged by keeping the dog away from her so Brooklyn isn't feeding him also. Deuce likes to camp out with his head in her lap under the highchair table waiting to catch the food that falls to her lap. She still only has her bottom 2 teeth, but takes soft solids easily. She still nurses and drinks well from the bottle when I am gone, but I swear she only takes like 12 to 15 oz a day, well below the average but still appears well nourished. My plan is to ween her from nursing the end of next month when we get back from our Chicago trip. I really really don't want to travel with bottles and formula. She's loves peek a boo and loves loves loves to be tickled. We've found she's quite observant and out of no where we will hear her laughing as she's watching us or the dog do something. In an effort to not jinx it I'll refrain from discussing her nap schedule, however I will note that when she wakes up it's due to a dirty diaper. That's my girl!!! Who wants to be sleeping in poopy pants! She'd sleep a whole 12 hours at night if we'd let her, but we don't and again I don't want to jinx that so I'll refrain from details. She isn't the best when it comes to actually laying her down in the crib for bedtime, she'll fuss and cry about it, but Brett and I have been good about letting her cry it out til she falls alseep. It only lasts a few moments. Her favorite toys are her puppy binkies which I've mentioned before that she only uses them in her crib, but lately I've find that when I go to pick her up from her crib she makes the effort to bend over to grab the puppy and looks and me with the "he can come too?" face. She's had a few stranger anxiety moments, but has done well considering she really is only with the sitter once a week, which mind you is at our house while I am upstairs sleeping. I'm not worried that'll she would have a melt down if I were to have to leave her with someone new at this point. Keeping my fingers crossed! The weather has been so wonderful lately that I'm really trying to get her out more even if its to the park a few houses down. For V-day I bought Brett and Brooklyn a bike trailor so she can go on bike rides with us..now we just have to get bikes! hehehe! We finally did our taxes this year and with our return I really really hope to finally get our backyard done. I'm pushing for a fancy swing set also, but Brett insists that I just want to spend money. It'll open up a whole new world of entertaining Brooklyn, at least until it hits 120 outside, then it's back to the indoors! So anyway, as you can see Brooklyn's been our lil busy body. I have lots to share and more importantly this post will be one to print out and put in her Baby book! 2 birds with one stone!

If you are interested in what Brett and I have been up to, well it's not that interesting. We still have all our teeth, not any new ones. We're walking and standing without assitance, stand-by assistance after a few beers though. Our vocab has expanded adding bah bah, at tah, and nah nah nah in efforts to communicate with Brooklyn. We sleep 6- 8 hours at a time (although yesterday since Brett was off I slept from 10 pm til 2 pm the next day! WAHOO!) Thankfully we don't have any new rolls or folds to share or have gone up in clothing size. We also haven't been sized for "Depends" yet either. We're pros at changing baby diapers though. Brett insists that when I get home from work that I should change Brooklyns diapers because he had to do it the whole time while I was gone. I have to keep reminding him that when I leave home to go to work I still have to change diapers, and not for just one baby, 2 and sometimes 3. And sometimes its even Adult poopy pants I have to deal with, but I won't go there. Brett still works for Chase and I am still in the NICU and ICU for Banner health. I thank god everyday for our jobs. We have a few trips plan in the next few months. Chicago (for Brooklyn and me), Vegas (for Brett), San Diego, and then Clearwater. Alright, this is getting rather long so I'll end it here.... Tah tah for now!

Are you missing us?!

With a much more mobile and active Brooklyn we've been quite busy with lil time to update the blog. Brooklyn definately plays and explores a whole lot more. I would barricade her in the office with me so I can catch up on blogging, but I find that I spend more then half my time trying to keep her away from the wires and plugs under the computer desk. Not a really baby proof office. Lolo Pike also came from Fargo to viist us the past few days. We just got back from taking him to the airport. We were busy spending time with him. Short visit!!! We're hoping he can come down and finally make a more permanent move, but we have a feeling it'll take Jamey, Rhonda, and the boys to move here first for Pike to finally make the move. Lolo Pike and Brooklyn...some quality time together....

Brett, Lolo Pike, Brooklyn and Monkey.....

Story behind the monkey....We were at Barnes and Noble browsing thru the kid section...Brooklyn was playing with a lil stuffed elmo and when she saw the monkey she left Elmo high and dry and dove straight for the monkey. She wouldn't let it go and Daddy caved and bought it for her. She needed a monkey with a tail to be just like her big cousins Michael and Marcus.

Brooklyn's really working on walking these days....

She manages to pul herself up in her "car" and take it for a spin thru the family room. The only problem is there is no steering wheel to make turns with the car and we didn't purchase the car with a reverse option. So she goes straight for a lil then she hits the wall and then she gets out of her car and crawls the rest of the way....

Brooklyn only really uses her puppy binky only for sleep time while in the crib, but this day she manages to sneak her puppy out of the crib with her and decided to show him the sights of the house and take him around with her....

Brooklyn's trying to learn some yiddish here....remember this book Keri?! OY vey!

excuse the booger hanging out of her nose.....she still looks dang cute!...she can make any booger look good!

So we're still teaching her sign language, but my lord she much rather talk...makes no sense, but we've been calling her Gabby lately since she's 1) talking up a storm and keeping herself entertained with her stories she telling herself and 2) she just loves the show YO Gabba Gabba!. Alright....I am sooo not a fan of that show, the host creeps me out, but Brooklyn can sit thru the whole show quite entertained.

She loves her shows so much, she crawls right up to the TV and I think wants to join the fun in the TV itself.... I am starting to limit her TV watching and only save it for desperate measures, like when I have to shower and get ready for work or when I need to finish cooking dinner so it doesn't burn.

Brooklyn is quite the happy and content baby...I say that in hopes to not jinx myself one day. She so easily amused and I just can't get enough of her laughs!!!!!

I can't believe how fast she is growing! She is nearly 8.5 months old and It's hard to beleive that Brett and I are talking about her 1st birthday party already! I'm thinking Luau...we'll see!

Here's my pretty baby girl....alright, so I might be biased, but I can't get enough of her!!!

Daddy can't get enough of her either!

Last set of pics I want to share are from the other night after Brooklyn's Berry Feast! I have to hide them from her until after she's done with her veggies because she goes nuts for them! And she insist on feeding herself. She doesn't get them all the time because the mess is a pain to clean, but well worth the entertainment we get from watching her.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Brett and I have Lily our babysitter and Todd (her hubbie) coming over to watch Brooklyn so we can enjoy a night of dinner and cocktails with friends!
