Sit and Smile...

This is pretty much how Alexis has been lately.

Discovering new toys and new ways to play.

Still not totally independent with sitting but it's amazing how much stronger she gets at it everyday. Last week I would not have even fathomed her being able to sit up...and crazy how quickly she does things.

She's now working on crawling (I know crazy!) and it's realy more of a scoot right now. She doesn't have much arm strength yet so she uses her head....

Brooklyn's been hammin' it up for the camara! It's not as easy for me to capture her sitting and smiling since she on the go, but when she does it melts my heart!

As you can see she's till interested in climbing up into Sheasus' swing and rocking herself (and scooter). She doesn't get jealous of Sheasus or try too hard to be the "baby" in the family though (thank goodness!). Instead she likes to play right along with us when we're playing with Alexis. Here she's tossing scooter up in the air, just like Daddy is with Alexis.

SHe just thought is was the most hilarious thing....

And although this next picture doesnt depict the same thing, Alexis did also....

I just think we had both girls the perfect time apart from each other...Brooklyn is too young to get jealous or upset with the newest addition, but rather she's loved Alexis like she's another toy. Although now that Alexis is half Brooklyn's size holding her and snuggling her isn't as easy.

Fathers Day Weekend

We had a crazy busy weekend. I worked Friday night and Brett worked Saturday afternoon. I had a few appts for the girls Saturday and then afterwards we all headed out for 2 birthday parties! Then after that the Rieckes joined us for pizza at the house. All this on no sleep since Thursday, I am impressed I just didn't fall over.

For Dad's day Brett spent the early morning playing golf with his buddies. Came home to some Scotcheroos that the Girls and I had made him. Brooklyn and Alexis wanted to get him a new putter to help with his golf game and since we don't know much about golf we decided to just have him pick it out so that's where we headed after nap time and before dinner. We enjoyed a yummy steak meal with some nice red wine for dinner, Brooklyn enjoyed the meal with her milk, and Alexis drooled over herself watching us enjoy our meal.

It was a great weekend and I hope Brett enjoyed his Daddy day as much as we enjoyed it. We even put 2 candles in his scotcheroos, in honor of the 2 years of parenting for him to blow out.... We're really into blowing candles lately since Brooklyn just had a birthday and we celebrated Deuce's and Pike's birthdays recently!

I didn't capture any pictures from the weekend. My bad! Although we did hit a few milestones with both girls. Brooklyn managed to sing the alphabet...the letters are slurred together especially the "lmnop" part....which is partly my fault since I sing it slurred to be funny. She sounds like someone who was intoxicated would sing it, but we understood what she was saying and it was another proud Mommy Daddy moment. And Miss Alexis has started to sit up unsupported. Of course we have to be within arms reach of her doing so because at any moment she can topple over, but she's getting stronger and better at it.

So Happy Fathers day to my babies Daddy!!! The girls are the so blessed and lucky to have such an incredible man in their life. He's setting the bar high for any potential suitors for them (MANY years from now) and they'll grow up with high expectations of how to be treated and what to expect from a husband and father.

Happy Father's day also to Hojo....thanks for always being a father to me, raising me, and your unconditional love (especially during my teenage years...hehehe). I hope you enjoyed your day as well.

Summertime Fun

In the 110 degree heat (it's a DRY heat!) this is what happens to the house while trying to entertain a 2 year old indoors....

And if you know me you know I am itching to start cleaning and putting away those toys....
We've now resorted to this for an hour or so during the day....

Alexis is quite content watching the water works fun from the comforts of the indoor A/C (smartie pants!)

Then when Brooklyn gets bored or too hot she comes back inside to play with her sister.

And if you didn't get enough pictures of our girls.....

We hope you are enjoying your summer as much as we are!

Fargo, North Dakota

Last week, thankfully after finishing battling the stomach flu that ran thru the house, we took a plane trip to Fargo for a family vacation.

Here's Alexis on her first plane ride...as you can see she was thrilled!!!

The main reason for our trip was to Celebrate Pepaw's big birthday!!!!!

Pepaw Pike got some good quality bonding time with both girls....

( and Yes, that is Pepaw with a toy, gunning down Brooklyn....there weren't any Barbies to play with at Michael and Marcus'!!!)

The other reason we made the trip to Dakota was to meet this Beauty!!!

(I mean the baby and not the stud holding the baby, if you were confused as to whom I am referencing!!!) This is Grace Marie Duffy, born to Brady and Teresa back in April. Brady is one of Brett's best buddies and they've known each other for years....

We had a blast spending time with family. The girls enjoyed their cousins, Michael and Marcus....

We were even able to make the drive to visit Memaw Cindy. Brooklyn and Alexis (who is MIA in the pictures because she stayed passed out in the car) brought her some peach roses....

I have to include this picture because I think it's just too funny..

Brooklyn got this present from Jamey, Rhonda, and the Boys...and this just shows you how girly our child really is....she put the dress right up to her to measure it up next to her and show it off to us...

And if there is still any doubt...

Brooklyn was easily entertained for hours in the car ride to Minneapolis with one tube of lip gloss.

Another wonderful vacation in the books for this Stephenson family. Suffering from post vacay blues....but looking forward to our next trip to Chicago in July....just not thrilled about the plane ride since it's just me and the girls and Brett's staying behind. Yeap, I said that....Me with the girls. ALL BY MYSELF on the plane to entertain both girls for nearly 3 hrs. Yikes!
