Between a rock and a hard place

Actually it's technically b/w the wall and Sheasus' crib....that's where I found my baby during what should have been her nap. It was a heart attack parenting moment, one of very few I hope to ever have, but comes with the parenting territory I am learning. Thankfully she was fine, just found herself in a jam...literally. She was able to climb outta her crib a few days ago so I lowered the crib to it's lowest position....keep in mind my child is the size of a 9 month old. Since obviously this afternoon event has proven it to be ineffective I've resorted to this....

I've moved the crib to be flush up to the wall so she won't find herself in that predicament again and flipped the crib to hopefully prevent her from escaping. (I learned that trick from an old Gilmore girls episode! I knew all those reruns would come In handy one day!) So my dilemma now is how long before I succumb to the toddler bed? Thankfully she's soo tiny and can't even reach the door handle....but that's just my mind she's still too little to be given the freedom of a toddler bed. Alexis has definitely stepped up her monkey business games. That girl has proven she can get into anything and her bitty size isn't gonna stop her....she's seriously so darn cute though it's hard to get mad!

East Valley "farmers market"

A few months ago I was introduced to the Superstition Ranch Market....I've been there on a weekly basis since. Fabulous place to get incredible deals on fresh produce. So it's not your typical farmers market that sells things from simply local farms and vendors, but given the set up and that they mainly sell produce it's right up the same alley. Now you can't always go expecting to get the same things or you might be disappointed. Don't have your heart set on this bright red picture perfect strawberries cause they may not always be in stock, but when they are expect to pay less then a dollar per pint. In fact a few weeks ago they were 4/dollar! Huge deal for my fruit loving little ladies. This week trip landed me with all this.....

For less then 8 dollars! I should have taken them out of the bags for better picture but just so you have the idea I have broccoli, bok choy , 2 types of tomatoes, red potatoes, corn, onion, garlic, mushrooms, cabbage, bananas and grapes. There are 2 locations, Mesa and AJ....I prefer the AJ locale (gasp!) then the Mesa simply cause the layout is way easier to get around. So until I can get Brett to build me my vegetable garden in our backyard and grow my own produce I'll stick with this east valley hidden gem....

Hanging on

I often joke that our family room couch is older then mine and Brett's 11 year relationship, but the statement is 100% true. I think Brett's had the couch 13 years and we were overdue for a new one like 5 hrs ago....

You know it's time to part with the couch when Buzz lightyear and Brooklyn would rather sit without the back cushions. Given that financing a new couch should not be the issue....see previous blog.....i just cant bring myself to replace the old thing while the girls are still so young with many yrs left to tear up a couch... Better this one then a new one right? So for now I'm gonna keep hanging on....til I simply can't stand the misshapen back cushions, tears, milk and juice stains, embedded fruit snacks on the underneath cushion. I'll just Febreeze it right Keri??!

Coupon Madness

It's no secret I love to shop so when it came down to shopping all while saving oodles of pennies and scoring free stuff I was all in! I've learned over the past few months the secrets of coupon shopping and I've become an addict. Yes saving a dollar for a rainy day is always the ultimate goal, however when there is a challenge on finding the best deal and seeing the percent you saved at the check out line there is a Lil bit of a rush and excitement there as well. Brett often groans at the post shopping trip phone call when I ask him to guess how much I's happens with every trip where I call gitty with the 60% savings in my pocket...and Brett tells me he doesn't need to know every single time.

Here's a look at my world as of late

Paper towels scored at nearly half the cost if not free... The 10 bottles of laundry detergent all paid less then 2 dollars for.... Brands ranging from tide to purex.

Vitamin water.... All free.

Nivea lotion free, razors free, and Bath and Body work lotion less then 2.00 a bottle.

Colgate toothpaste free and Crest at a dollar

body washes, shampoo and conditioners.... All probably at the average savings of 75%.

Definitely not extreme couponing status, but there is definite ease in our pocket books!!!!

Okay so not only am I saving pennies for the rainy day (or upcoming vacations and indulgences... Which I have plenty of) I am also stocking up for that rainy day. Hey, we work hard for our money so if I can save money one place to put towards other things like stay cations, gifts for the girls, new set of golf clubs...hmm!? or my iPad then why not right?!

SOOOO behind!

oh my, I am really slacking here. I worked over the weekend of the 4th of July. 4 nights in a row (which I haven't done in over 3 years its seems) and after a quick recovery from work I started my 5 day mini-vacation. It was packed! Every night we had plans to see friends for dinner and simply catch up. Then over the weekend Brett and I were spontaneous (that's why I love him!) and booked a little cottage suite for us at the Biltmore. Little girls included... Joining us in our spur of the moment vacation was our dear friends. What was even more special about the weekend was that it is their last here in AZ before they start their new adventure in California. You guys will be missed! Thanks for letting me drag out our goodbye!!! The kiddos of course had a blast....poolside. I would have never thought that the Biltmore would be so kid friendly. Had our kids been a tad older they may have enjoyed the 8pm showing of Disney's Cars poolside....regardless it was still a grand time.

I loved our little get-away and now I am even more excited for our next one coming up shortly! That will also be fun because 4 sets of our very awesome AZ family/friends will be joining us as well. In the meantime we are jammed packed busy with work, the girls, preparing for pre school (ekkk!) and upcoming trips. As a matter of fact, the only reason why I'm able to sit in front of this computer right now is because of our little Mommy Helper I've "employeed" for the afternoon.... She's entertaining the girls while I get ready for work, pay bills, put laundry away, etc. All things which have taken a back seat to the Blog!
