Sheasus' Birthday celebration continued this weekend at the Disney on Ice show TOY STORY 3. Both girls were in HEAVEN.

We had pretty awesome seats...3 rows back and all their favorite characters came nearly right up to them.

Two Dancers

This week since Sheasus turned 2 we enrolled her in an Intro Dance class

She will go once a week with her big sister.

For the past 9 months she's been watching her big sister on the TV monitors at that same class and when she finally hit 2 there was no doubt that she'd be able to join her and do fabulous in the class. The instructor and her helper were very happy to see her actually join the class instead of hang out in the waiting room.

With the help of her Awesome big sister she did great and followed along perfectly. It was quite impressive considering she is the youngest in her class. Most newbies just stand there watching the others where as Sheasus acted like she was a seasoned pro! WAY TO GO Sheasus!

Weekend Events

What a fun filled busy birthday weekend! Instead of going out of town we opted to fill the weekend with busy activities. Lots of last minute things, but crazy fun for us!
We started off at Build-A-Bear....more like Build-A-Puppy with my girls. Their first time there. Huge Hit...now I understand the hype.

Next Stop...Studio Movie Grill in Scottsdale. It was Sheasus's first time at the movie theatre and she did great. We saw Beauty and the Beast in 3D. Best part of the movie was the Tangled short clip in the beginning...of course we still enjoyed the Movie itself.

Afterwards we headed to dinner at Pita Jungle. A favorite for our family of four. Then headed home to a wonderful treat. One of Brett's employees also has a cupcake company and she made Alexis her birthday cupcakes. A combo of oreo cupcakes and Cotton candy. YUMMY!

Check her website when you can...she also has a blog. Lindsey was a contestant on the TV show Cupcake Wars and I can see why...so freaking good!

We sang (even though it was 2 days early) Happy Birthday to Miss Sheasus....

It was a complete first full day.

On Sunday we got up early and took the girls to Encanto Park. Small, older, but still cute amusement park fit for our little girls. It's no Disneyland, but the girls had a blast.

Afterwards we tooled around Phoenix, furniture shopped, lunch at RA, Toys R Us pit stop, shopping at San Tan Village, and then dinner with Friends at a Teppanyaki grill.

Again, another FULL day that didn't bring us home til after 9. The girls were tired, but still amped up for the big day on Monday.

Alexis was greeted on her birthday with what every 2 year old child loves....balloons, balloons, balloons.

Sheasus then opened her birthday presents....There were lots, and lots of pictures to go with, but here are the highlights...

She's into dress-up, Dora, Disney Princesses, coloring, Dance, and make-up (yes I know she's only 2!) and she got a combination of all that.

Quickly after the gift opening and sprinkled chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast it was back to what else, but the Balloons!

That afternoon we met up with a few friends for an impromptu, last minute celebration at Freestone Park in Gilbert. (This is why I love our friends....so easy going and able to do last minute things with us!)

We rounded off the afternoon with a treat at Oreganos....

The birthday girl was a tad bit exhausted and missed out on the treat, but I'm pretty sure she didn't notice.

I feel like we need a true vacation after our crazy FULL but fun weekend. Brett and I both enjoy spoiling the girls especially on her birthday. She was born at 1053 at night so I made sure to stay up til then so I can sneak into her room, pull her out of bed and cuddle my itty bitty the moment she turned 2. GOSH I JUST LOVE HER!

Sorry for the lack of blogging....after the high of the holiday season our life just kept busy. This weekend has been fully dedicated for celebrating the 2nd birthday of our itty bitty Sheasus. After many nights of pondering to go out of town or to stay we opted to do it BIG homestyle. We started at build a bear, headed to a dinner theatre for Beauty and the Beast in 3D, enjoyed custom cupcakes for the girls, went to a mini amusement park, went to Toys r Us where Sheasus unknowingly picked out some birthday gifts, then even did Dinner teppanyaki style. All this and it's not even her birthday!!!!! It's been a full weekend so far....we have barely been home so it feels like we're on vacation...AND we still have tomorrow to continue the celebration....

We still have a FULL day ahead of us tomorrow. Since we've been out and about nearly all day long I havent gotten the chance to upload pictures.... So stay tuned!

Merry Christmas

The only downside of working in the healthcare field that I have found is that hospitals dont close over major holidays. With that said every year varies on Christmas traditions and how it is celebrated. Last year was a big year in Chicago with that side of the family. This year was more low key and initimate with just the 4 of us, but still a big year for us...big in the sense filled and filled with gifts for the girls. I worked Friday night and came home Christmas eve morning and let the girls FINALLy tear into their presents. Not sure who was most excited, the girls, Brett, or Deuce. I'll let the pictures do the most of the talking....

My hubbie is slightly obsessed with golf these days...so I got him something to work on his game during is downtime.

I on the other hand am slightly obsessed with boot socks/leg warmers and shoes. I got a combination of all of that. Along with some pretty sparkly jewelry (what girl doesn't love that?!) Thanks to pinterest, my hubbie had some help on what to get me. No pictures of me that day though....after working 12 hrs and then taking an hour nap...definitely not picture ready.

That night we got ready for Santa to visit the house. We fed the reindeer by sprinking some special reindeer food on the patio. Made cookies (again after working a 12 hour night shift the cookies were store bought pre made/cut/decorated tollhouse kind....DONT judge...at least they weren't oreos and we did make some of the effort, or my first memory of santa growing up we gave eggrolls!)

The next morning the girls woke up to this....

Note that santa even left his footprints and some snow on our carpet! I know he's busy but he can at least clean up after himself. Regardless, the girls were super stoked to get up and run down the stairs to check out the gifts. In fact they tried to get up at 6am...but Brett and I put a hault on that idea!

Brooklyn loved her Big Puppy, that she was quick to name Christmas Paws, "paws" is his nickname...she's good! Alexis loved all her toys, but mostly her Sisters toys. They love playing dress up so the disney dress up trunks were a hit.

Just in case there are those looking really analyzing our pictures...and I know I have blog stalkers out there that do...I had to include this picture so you know why we throw a big blanket over our big living room couch...normally something that gets pulled when we have guests. Deuce likes to perch himself on the couch nearly all day long as you can see in the photo...

So pretty much Christmas eve and Day was spent with letting the girls tear into their presents and play. I had to work Christmas night so I took a few and Brett was surely pleased that the girls had plenty to play with and entertain themselves with.

All in all, it was an incredibly low key Christmas which if you ask me is always nice to have ever so often. Although don't get me wrong, I would have much rather spent time with any of our extended family during the holidays, but if that's not an option...this is definitely the way to go for us. The girls were spoiled by soooo many presents...lots of dolls, dress up toys because my girls are both girly girls. I think we've added 4 more puppies to Brooklyn's ever growing collection. I know that Alexis will be getting a helmet and infant size bike for her birthday because she pretty much insepreable from Brooklyn's.

Brooklyn is learning the how to not be a sore loser and at the same time learning how to not be a boastful winner thanks to Hungry Hippos. I don't think "I kicked your Butt!" will get her invited to her friends houses much..but we're working on it.
So many toys toys toys! Of course Santa didn't fail the girls without giving the obligatory new socks. Always a great stocking stuffer.
I have always loved Christmas, but it has gotten 10x better with these two....

Season for giving....

Not a day goes by that I don't count my blessings. I'm lucky to have what I have...no matter how little it may seem to some or lots it may seem to others. I'm thankful for the health of my loved ones and myself. I'm thankful for the house that shelters my loved ones and me. I am thankful for jobs that help provide the shelter and material things.... I'm simply thankful to have material things...but MOST importantly I am thankful to have the love that surrounds me though my family and friends. The list of things I am thankful is infinite and of course changes on the daily basis. Bottom line I am grateful I am blessed.

Holiday times can really put things into prespective....What you have one year you may not have the next or what you didn't have may even be worse the following. I look at the bottom of my Xmas tree and think my kids don't need all those gifts and it hurts to know that there are parents that struggle to put just one gift under the tree for their kids. So this year in lieu of exchanging gifts with friends we all opted on sponsoring needy families in hopes to provide a holiday that would not be able to do for themselves. New at this process I went through St Vicent de Paul and they set me up with several families to get in contact with. With the aid of my WONDERFUL friends we were able to sponser 2 large families. Both families having unique situations, but both still struggling. I kept in mind that it comes down to the kids and the same way I want to protect and shelter my own from struggles and hard times, some parents may not be able to do the same. I learned that what some people may find a necessity and would never go without (heat for their homes), some may find a luxury. I learned through this process the importance of keeping a non judgemental attitude. I learned how humbling it is to even ask for help.

Today we made the drop offs with those families. With nearly a truckload of gifts (okay, maybe I am exaggerating) we dropped off gifts for families....some basic necessities...and a few extra items to make their Christmas special. It was a combined effort from all our friends....and I am so thankful for them, but how little it may have seem to us probably made a bigger impact on these families then we'll be able to understand. This process challenged me to really put into prespective how blessed we all are but more importantly what more can I do to help.

Our Christmas Card Tree

This year instead of taping all the awesome christmas cards we recv'd up in our ledge like we've done every other year I've started a new tradition of our holiday card tree.

I've opted on not setting up my extra 5 ft tree (from apt living days) the past few years since the girls were little, but this year they proved trustworthy. So the tree got assembled and Brooklyn chose to decorate it with all her holiday craft projects along with the holiday cards. Can I just say I have Beautiful friends?! Just saying! :)

As if Brooklyn hasn't driven her point home that she wants a toy puppy this year for Christmas she still insisted on sending Santa yet another letter to remind him.

She had Alexis write a letter to him asking for a puppy as well. Oh the power of an impressionable sibling and peer pressure!

First Hair Cut

Alexis (and Mommy) survived the first haircut... as you can see it was torture.

She just needed a trim to even it all out...I've been procastinating taking her....in hopes deep down it will hopefully slow the growing up process...DANG! these kiddos grow up quick!

Brooklyn- well she was pretty much blah about the whole process. Only going one other time and having the same reaction as Alexis. I think it helps that she tags along with Daddy when he goes and gets his cut. They both (daddy and Brooklyn) score candy when he's done.

I forgot to take after pictures....It wasn't drastic though...no one in this house seems to ever have any drastic haircuts ever....Brett sports the same haircut cut by the same girl for aver 10 yrs now. I get my cut maybe 2 times a year....and also have had the same long black hair!

More Holiday Festivities.....

Yesterday was Brooklyns first ever Christmas Program for school.

We got dressed up and the girls sat through yet another one of mommies photo shoots....

Brooklyn did great at the show and sang their christmas songs....

She sang to a very intrigued audience....

She also had to say goodbye to her very first preschool teacher who will be moving this month to California. So sad because we really loved Miss Denise.

Afterwards we went to a Christmas Party with our Friends the Mitchells and the Petersons at Seville. Brooklyn is always so excited to hng out with her friends....

Girls had a PJ party and were well cared for by their staff and the adults were well cared for by the Bar....Well mainly Me and the other wives...hubbies had to be responsible of course! I did managed to get pictures of the girls!

Always a tough task posing 5 lil busy bodies under the age of 4.

And that's before Santa makes his appearance. yes...spoiled....so this year our friends and I have opted to not exchange gifts among each other but rather adopt a needy family for the holidays and provide gifts for them. I'm incredibly excited to do this for the first time and hope to make this a tradition. Keep posted for our blog update on this.

Back at it

It didnt seem to long ago that I was potty training Brooklyn and it wasn't. A little over a year ago. I thought I had some time before I had to cross that bridge again. But it seems that Sheasus is wanting to cross that bridge more and more each day despite my hestitation. Everyday she goes more and more on the potty. She asks, we help her onto the potty, she goes. She gets skittles. I haven't bit the bullet and taken the diaper away totally because she still hasnt grasped the whole staying dry concept and because they don't make panties in 12 month size so I'm having to buy the smallest ones i can find and then alter them still. I know we still have a long ways to go before we're totally trained, but its apparently happening long before I planned it. (i didn't think of introducing this until after our big vacation that involves a nearly combined 20 hr plane trip...make sense right?)

Other then that Sheasus is down to one nap a day. Still tries to sneak into her sisters bed to sleep at night...sometimes a success....

She's still itty bitty.... but her voice is quite opposite. She's discovered she can have an opinion and isn't afraid to show it. She's become shy around strangers and takes a little to warm up to to you, but after the she'll be your best friend. She loves to cuddle and she'll climb right up in our laps and arms and find away to tuck herself in. She repeats EVEYRTHING you say, not to the tee, but hearing her version of what you just said always cracks me up. She's put together sentences and can sing versus to songs. She's definitely going to be a gymnast. Always finding things to hang off of and flip onto.

Brooklyn is enjoying her preschool. Loves going to dance class. She likes to play with the older kids and keep up with what they're doing and then loves to teach and play with her little sister. She's still attached to her puppy and mothers him like any mom would of a newborn. She must be hitting a growth spurt because she's constantly hungry. She loves to play dress up and any imaginative play. She loves tea parties and anyone willing to sit with her and be her "customer"...usually Sheasus...sometimes deuce if real food is involved. Her hair is still just as curly and something I'll always envy.

That's all I have for you right now....keeping busy with the holidays. Lots of projects and things on the agenda...but more importantly keeping busy with these two....

Polar Express

We spent the weekend up in the "mountains" with some wonderful friends and had an even more wonderful time. The main purpose was to take the kids on the Polar Express train ride.

Thr train ride was filled with lots of happy screaming kids (and adults) amped up on sugar cookies and Hot Cocoa. (see previous blog posting) We sang christmas carols and even danced a little bit.

SOme kids....not so much....

The train took us straight to the North Pole....where Santa and his elf were waiting to wave high to us.

The highlight of the train ride was the surpise guest who came onboard to hand out early Christmas gifts.

I wish this last picture turned out better because I caught it at the tail end but thats Brooklyn giving Santa a bog ole hug!

I was surprise that Miss B wanted to sit on Santa's lap even and tell him that all she wanted this year was a puppy...SHOCKING SURPRISE (both the puppy and that Miss B wasn't shy with Santa this time around) After Santa left the train car, Brooklyn started to BAWL. Between her sobs and sighs she managed to say that she was sad that she asked Santa for a puppy and all she got was the Bell. We kept having to explain to her that this was a Christmas pre show and that Santa would be visiting her soon again on Christmas....GOSH I LOVE MY KIDS!

We opted to not stay in Williams...the town where the Train Station was but rather spend the rest of the time in Flagstaff. There was still a little bit of snow left from the previous weekends storm. Just enough to let the kids get their fix of playing in the snow.

A nice things about living in AZ is the warmer climate and the ability to drive just a few hours north have a little taste of winter.

Best part of the holiday season are all the shipments and boxes full of gifts.... But we don't care about the gifts as much as we do the box it comes in....

Who needs coloring books?! We can ,ake anything work, as long as it's not the walls. Hours and hours if entertainment!!! Good way to distract the girls from the wrapped presents under the tree. This is the first year I had to gate them off of the tree area. They were busted taking a sneak peak.... And their furry buddy Deuce was aiding the process.

the past few days has been filled with lots of family time and good memories. Our family from Chicago came out here to celebrate Thanksgiving. The girls spent time with Memaw and Pepaw, their Uncle-ro-ro aka Andro, Auntie "ikey's mom" aka Rachie, and Ikey aka Isaac. So busy spending time with the family very little picture taking was going on. Leave it to Memaw to capture some good ones on her phone.

While at a friends house tonight my 22 mos old pulled me into the bathroom, said potty, proceeded to point to the potty. With no attempt yet and without any intention to I figured, heck why not....placed her on the throne that swallowed her 12 mos old sized bootie whole. A few minutes later I hear the trickle and splash of pee. Shut the front door (thx summer for my new fav expression) she did just do that! Did I mention.... SO NOT READY! (especially since I literally just bought another super sized box of pampers... On sale of course!) I was gonna wait til the spring to even introduce the idea. So i figured i can stock up on more pampers. We have a huge international trip planned with both girls and honestly traveling in diapers.... So much easier!

While mommy was away playing in Vegas daddy took the girls to Fargo. Not often does this happen but they flew thru bismarck and spent a Lil bit of time with their Auntie mikaela...... So sad I missed seeing her, but glad the girls did....

Celebrated my 32nd birthday in typical Vegas fashion. Meant as an upcoming 40th celebration for Anjee but worked out over the weekend of mine...it was a perfect girls trip away. Given the nature of the weekend and respect of my friends... I'll share only a few pictures....

We have an understanding in our house that the girls are to sleep in there own rooms... Since they were both about 2 mos old that has been the case. With the exception of vacations and one time for Brooklyn when she was sick. They are great sleepers and they don't try hard to climb into our beds at night. In fact Brooklyn kicks us out of her room during bedtime. As they get older cuddle time gets rarer and every moment I want to bottle up. I have resorted to either sneaking a few moments with Brooklyn after she's fallen asleep. And then this.......

If I'm still awake and Alexis starts crying from her room there are times when I don't hesitate to scoop her up and slide her in bed with us. Not a habit, cuz normally we just let her cry it out. But as every mom knows there are times when you just want to hug your kiddos and never let go.

House happenings.

I have a lot of things that I want done in the house.... Tasks as little as cleaning the floor to as big as installing a vegetable garden. You better believe that Brett hasn't been left put of the fun. Just when he thinks his honey do list gets better....I add something else. My latest project was installing shelves and hooks in the laundry room to help decrease the clutter of things that accumulates on top of the washer and dryer. Pretty simple task right?.....

Brett thought he'd paint the wall first. Give the laundry room an accent wall...I'm still waiting on the shelves and hooks.

My project was to re do our throw pillows on the family room couches which are well over due to be tossed and replaced..... I figured if I do this I'll buy more time and resist the huge urge to finally replace them.

I also redid the pillows on our benches since the old fabric wasn't as childy friendly.
Hung some fall decor and added/experimented with my own craftiness with the help of pinterest... My fall tutu wreath...

Also serves to show our ASU devil pride.......that part not intentional.

On top of all our house projects....Brett and I took on an even bigger commitment...

I hope this doesn't collect dust :) cause dusting falls really low on my honey do list!

Jeggings..... Never thought I'd say that....not gonna lie... Chuckled at the thought of leggings mAde to look like jeans.... But they are my new favorite find!!!!!

For my 21 mos old! Finding pants that fit decent on the waste and length was turning into a struggle. She didn't do well with the adjustable waste cuz we adjusted it sooo much it just left it soo bulky. I found baby jeggings at target for nearly 8 dollars.

Paired with a pair of faux suede boots that are knee highs on my munchkin..... Perfection.

I forgot that I did take pictures to document my accomplishment in the kitchen with my made from scratch Risotto....
Warm 6 cups of Chicken broth in large sauce pan.
Sautee LOTS or baby potabella and white button mushrooms

Set Aside and sautee some shallots, garlic, in some olive oil.

(key to my success was to have ingredients prepared and ready prior to cooking and to have plenty for the girls to do and keep entertained....because once you enter
the next step you'll be stirring for about 40 mins. (nice arm workout)

Add Arborio Rice and wine.

At Half a cup at a time of the 6 cups Chicken Broth, while continuosly stirring. Do this for about 40 mins until the Rice is al dente.

Last step is to add the mushrooms, butter, chives and parmesean cheese.

Final Product...

Not bad for a rookie.

A few days ago the girls and I headed off to the Superstition Dairy Farms in Mesa with the Riecke's.

Needless to Say Brooklyn was in Heaven.

In college I worked at a fabulous italian restuarant call Cucina Roma. Thats where I tried and discovered for the very first time Risotto. It was a creamy mushroom and chicken risotto.....fast forward 10+ years. I've been having a craving for this risotto even more so since I've discovered Pinterest. A website full of random pictures and links to more random things....awful to browse through when your hungry. On there I saw this picture.....

The next day I set off to the grocery store to buy the ingredients and that night I challenged myself to re-create the dish. I've never considered myself an excellent cook...but I enjoy trying new recipes and the challenges of cooking it and getting the family to eat it as well. Long story short after 40 mins of continuous stirring I've successfully accomplished a wonderful tasty dinner for the family....even better, the girls ate it. And the Battle against raising picking eaters just swayed my way.

I'm learning everyday how to creatively parent.... Breaking up toddler battles with a certain preschooler. Knowing what tattles to take seriously and which cries I can ignore, how to almost always provide the same if not equally appealing options when both kids present. How to carry both girls and negotiate which toys I can also handle carrying at that same time. How to make time out effective in 30 seconds. What words and phrases I can scream out the window watching the girls play out back without drawing my neighbors attention ( to call cps) . And most importantly how to cherish moments like these.....

I am thankful that lately these moments are coming more and more as both girls learn that they make Wonderful friends and awful enemies.

Walking For A Cure 2011

This is now Mine and Brett's 8th year doing the walk and I imagine until they find a cure we"ll be doing this walk for years to come. Amazing to see all the people that come out to support the cause and think that Breast Cancer has some way or form effected all those people as well. This year we were lucky again to be joined by such wonderful friends. I enjoy the 3.2 mile walk chatting away..... and entertained by the lil kiddos. (thank you Anjee for taking pics!)

Cheating

All parents of young kids seem to know their state laws for when to flip their kid forward in the carseat. For AZ it's 1 year of age and 20 lbs. ON a good day Alexis probably weighs 20 lbs, with clothes on. I do know that new recommendation is at least 2 years of the weight limit of the carseat. We were worried Alexis would hit 3 by the time that happened and Brett felt horribly bad for her having to face backward...so he picked this up for her....

So now we dont really cheat at our house, it just depends on when you weigh our kids....just best after a full meal!

I am so in love with the weather right now.... Minus the leaves changing colors it seems like the perfect fall weather.... Somewhere In the 60s with the sun shining, bundled up in a sweatshirt, cup of hot tea.... Kids content to color outside while the newly cleaned inside of the house stays as such.... perfect!

( and yes Brooklyn is in the same dress as yesterday.... Gotta pick my battles right?) oh and bonus I inadvertently got a 7 day vacation ( low on call hrs that I sleep thru the whole might for!) on the agenda is race for the cure, pumpkin patch, more cool weather mornings spent outside. And already done from the agenda.... Date nite with the hubbie, where we bellied up to the bar and people watched thru Tempe marketplace, and fall cleaned the house! All the windows are open and blowing the trapped summer air outta the house!!!! Welcome to why I live in az!!!!! My 3 mos of stuffy air conditioning is the trade off for the 9 months of perfect weathers Ike the rest of the country suffers:)

Brett's Birthday was this past weekend and Pepaw pike flew into town to help us celebrate. Unfortunately the weekend started off a little rocky with Brett who was sick for pretty much the whole time...lousy way to spend your days off of work huh? Regardless, the girls and I still had fun visting with Pepaw Pike

Brett's Birthday actually fell on a tuesday and Pike had to head back home the day before right when Brett started to feel better. His actual Birthday we celebrated with party after he got home from a long day at work.

We showered the birthday boy with lots of presents....all some how related to golf.

I"m turning into a hoarder....ok, maybe not as bad as those depicted on TV since I dont stockpile trash, but rather household grocery and personal items that I scored for dirt cheap. I am coupon CRAZY. Today's Daily deals.....

SO here's the breakdown...

7 bottles of shampoo (herbal essense and Pantene)

6 bottles of conditioner (we have ALOT of hair in this house...this wil be used within months)

6 secret detergent (Holy hell its hot here....those around me will thank me!)

4 bags of tyson chkn nuggets....Girls live on these.

When I save more then I pay I'm a happy consumer :)

I have a feeling that my hoarding tendencies are rubbing off on Brooklyn. She's puppy OBSESSED and has gathered quite the collection. I forget what the last total count was, but somehow we've managed to climb to about 41. Good part is that when coming up with activities for Brooklyn and her friend Amaya to do a scavenger hunt for all the puppies in the house kept them enterained for quite some time!

so far i can report that operation cribless home has gone down without a hitch. Sheasus has always been an easy going child and this milestone proves such. Naps and bedtime were no different then any other night...crawled right into bed, grabbed her bear and her monkey and said "nigh nigh" SCORE! So easy going, go with the flow kind of girl! It wasn't this easy with Brooklyn....i can recall many nights of locking her in her room only to find her passed out at the doorway because she cried herself to sleep there. I was prepared for this...we got lucky.

tiny girl....hu-mungo milestone

I don't know why I thought today should be the day to try Alexis in her toddler girl bed....but I did. Never once would I have thought at 19 months she'd be ready....but my gut told me that today she would be.

I found that making these milestones in the past were more successful when unplanned and spur of the moment. I'll let you know in a few day if that holds true. ( I work the next 2 nites so it'll be Brett having to re install the side of a crib if we fail this attempt....maybe secretly that's why I thought tonight would be good :)!)

She is also still too short to open the doors so I am hoping that is to our advantage. At least she won't be escaping the confines of her room.

26 yrs ago my family and I were in a car accident. There was heart breaking loss and injuries and I'm reminded daily every time I look in the mirror. part of the residuals of my injuries are a scar on my chin that was minimized years ago with plastic surgery. I also knocked out the top four of my teeth. My adult teeth eventually grew in but the root of one remained damaged. Through the years my front tooth grew more yellow and "necrotic." i couldnt hide it in any pictures.

It was always a cosmetic fix I wanted but was placed on the back burner and never a priority. Until this past week. I started to get bad toothaches...so I couldn't put it off any longer. A trip to a dentist and endodontis,extensive root canal, sick calls, pain meds, antibiotics, and a crown later I can finally smile more confidently and bigger.

I am proud of my teeth and smile again! Two yrs in braces...I better be!

So i know I've neglected the blog the past few weeks. The Girls and I took a much needed vacation to Chicago last week. As you can see they have a rogh life and needed to get away

So we spent 7 wonderful days in Chicago. Running around the metropolitan area seeing family and friends as well as getting some good old quality bonding time.

Brooklyn even learned the skill of landscaping....made for a truly Proud Pepaw

When we got back home I had to deal with major dental issues so blogging again took a backseat. I'm back to normal (somewhat...it's another blog for another time) and counting the days til my next Vacation. VEGAS here I come!

Memaws main purpose for taking the girls downtown was to take them to the American Girl Doll store. Seriously....crazy the things they have for the these little girl dolls. Not only were there 2 floors of shopping there's also a hair salon, hospital, photo studio, bakery and restuarant. CRAZY I tell you, but every little girls heaven.

Part of the American Doll Experience was having high tea. Even Ike-y got in on the fun....here is one happy Memaw.

Last week the girls and I took our annual summer trip to Chicago. My girls are well seasoned travelers now. I took sooo many pictures so here's the breakdown. One of the highlights of the trip was the day trip to Downtown. We drove to Crystal Lake train station. Took the train to Union Station.

From there hopped onto a water taxi which took us down the river through the Loop out towards Navy Pier.

From Navy Pier we took a trolley to Michigan Ave. Met Family and friends there, shopped and dined.

Our trip back home we snatched a ride from the City Bus back towards Union Station then to then take the train back home. Talk about well traveled huh?! The only thing we were missing was a horse drawn carriage ride.....but have no fear we still saw the horse drawn carriages.

Brooklyn started preschool on tuesday. She goes 2 days a week for 3 hrs. Since sheasus is still napping in the morning it left me free with 3 hrs of "quiet" time. I must admit...I missed my little Helper... Cleaning just isn't them same without a 3 year old insisting she wipe the glass as I spray!

Between a rock and a hard place

Actually it's technically b/w the wall and Sheasus' crib....that's where I found my baby during what should have been her nap. It was a heart attack parenting moment, one of very few I hope to ever have, but comes with the parenting territory I am learning. Thankfully she was fine, just found herself in a jam...literally. She was able to climb outta her crib a few days ago so I lowered the crib to it's lowest position....keep in mind my child is the size of a 9 month old. Since obviously this afternoon event has proven it to be ineffective I've resorted to this....

I've moved the crib to be flush up to the wall so she won't find herself in that predicament again and flipped the crib to hopefully prevent her from escaping. (I learned that trick from an old Gilmore girls episode! I knew all those reruns would come In handy one day!) So my dilemma now is how long before I succumb to the toddler bed? Thankfully she's soo tiny and can't even reach the door handle....but that's just it...in my mind she's still too little to be given the freedom of a toddler bed. Alexis has definitely stepped up her monkey business games. That girl has proven she can get into anything and her bitty size isn't gonna stop her....she's seriously so darn cute though it's hard to get mad!

East Valley "farmers market"

A few months ago I was introduced to the Superstition Ranch Market....I've been there on a weekly basis since. Fabulous place to get incredible deals on fresh produce. So it's not your typical farmers market that sells things from simply local farms and vendors, but given the set up and that they mainly sell produce it's right up the same alley. Now you can't always go expecting to get the same things or you might be disappointed. Don't have your heart set on this bright red picture perfect strawberries cause they may not always be in stock, but when they are expect to pay less then a dollar per pint. In fact a few weeks ago they were 4/dollar! Huge deal for my fruit loving little ladies. This week trip landed me with all this.....

For less then 8 dollars! I should have taken them out of the bags for better picture but just so you have the idea I have broccoli, bok choy , 2 types of tomatoes, red potatoes, corn, onion, garlic, mushrooms, cabbage, bananas and grapes. There are 2 locations, Mesa and AJ....I prefer the AJ locale (gasp!) then the Mesa simply cause the layout is way easier to get around. So until I can get Brett to build me my vegetable garden in our backyard and grow my own produce I'll stick with this east valley hidden gem....

I love picking up my IPad and finding this stored in my memory section.....

Someone seriously knows how to use my iPad better then me. Think my Lil 3 yr old can't wait to get her hands on my computer en I leave fir work!
